Frequently Asked Questions

The owners and pet groomers at Paws and Purrrls, Mandy and Megan.

How often should I get my dog groomed?

We like to see them done every 6-8 weeks. While double coated dogs should be done at least 3 times a year.

How often should I get my dog/cats nails clipped?

You should plan for every 4 weeks to maintain a healthy and manageable length.

When should I get my new puppy groomed?

ASAP after their second round of vaccinations. This will help get them accustomed to the new smells, noises, bath, and dryer.

What is included in my dog/cats groom?

All grooms include a bath, blow out, nails, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, and a body clip of your choice.

Do my dogs need to be up-to-date on vaccinations to be groomed?

Yes! Simply for the well-being of your dogs health. Dogs get sick just as quick as children, so to prevent anything from spreading to your beloved pet we suggest that they be up-to-date with their vaccinations for their and everyone else's pets well being.

What is the difference between cuts?

We offer 3 different options for groom cuts:

A Kennel cut uses blades 7, 5, 4, and 3. We finish with scissoring around the head, tail, and face.

A Teddy Bear cut is always done with a comb attachment giving various lengths from a 1/2 inch all the way to 1 inch. It leaves the dog fluffy looking like a teddy bear.  There is more hand scissoring involved around the face, tail, and ears.

Breed cuts are specific to the breed and follows what is known as show cuts. These cuts define a particular breeds physique.
